“Artificial intelligence is no longer an option—it is the engine driving smarter governance, stronger services and a future-ready digital society.” – Sharjah Digital Department

Landmark MoU Accelerates Artificial Intelligence Adoption Across Public Sector Operations in Sharjah Digital

The Sharjah Digital Department has taken a major step towards advancing AI-driven government operations by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dell Technologies. The agreement is set to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across government entities, reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a leader in digital transformation.

The partnership introduces a comprehensive programme focused on building institutional AI capabilities, enabling government departments to adopt advanced technologies and integrate them into daily operations. This initiative aligns closely with the emirate’s long-term vision of creating a smart, proactive and human-centric government ecosystem.

Signed by H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah Digital Department, and Walid Yehia, Managing Director of Gulf at Dell Technologies, the agreement highlights the growing importance of public-private collaboration in driving innovation and digital progress.

At the core of the MoU is a structured programme that includes hands-on training, knowledge-transfer sessions, and specialised workshops tailored for government leaders, developers, and professionals across various sectors. These initiatives are designed to equip participants with the skills needed to develop practical AI use cases, transforming emerging technologies into actionable solutions that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Officials emphasised that the initiative goes beyond adopting technology—it aims to reshape how government services are designed and delivered. Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi noted that artificial intelligence is not merely a tool, but a strategic driver for reimagining government operations, enabling the creation of more integrated and innovative service ecosystems that ultimately improve the quality of life for residents.

The programme also supports the implementation of the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028, which focuses on enhancing readiness for AI adoption, strengthening system integration and building a unified digital infrastructure across government entities. By embedding AI into core processes, the initiative aims to deliver more proactive, seamless and data-driven public services.

From Dell Technologies’ perspective, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering governments with cutting-edge digital capabilities. Walid Yehia highlighted that the partnership enables the company to bring its global expertise into Sharjah’s digital ecosystem, supporting the development of high-performance operational models and advancing the emirate’s vision for a technology-driven future.

The initiative also places strong emphasis on talent development, ensuring that the government workforce is equipped to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. By focusing on upskilling employees and fostering innovation, the programme aims to build a sustainable foundation for long-term digital growth.

In addition, the agreement strengthens Sharjah Digital Department’s role in leading digital transformation across the emirate. The department continues to drive initiatives that enhance data governance, cybersecurity and system integration, contributing to the creation of a connected and resilient digital ecosystem that supports both public services and economic development.

The collaboration underscores the UAE’s broader commitment to artificial intelligence as a cornerstone of future growth. By fostering partnerships between government entities and global technology leaders, the country is accelerating the transition towards AI-powered governance, where data, innovation and human-centric design converge to deliver smarter services.

As Sharjah continues its digital journey, initiatives like this MoU highlight the critical role of collaboration in unlocking the full potential of emerging technologies. By combining expertise, resources and innovation, the partnership is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping a future-ready government model that prioritises efficiency, innovation and citizen wellbeing.
