Khalifa University has achieved a major global milestone, securing the 6th position worldwide in Petroleum Engineering in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, reinforcing its status as a leading institution in advanced engineering and energy research.
The latest ranking marks an improvement from 7th place in 2025, highlighting the university’s consistent progress and its growing impact in one of the world’s most critical industries. The achievement reflects a strong commitment to cutting-edge research, academic excellence, and industry-aligned innovation, particularly in areas vital to the UAE’s long-term economic strategy.
Beyond petroleum engineering, the university has demonstrated broad-based growth across multiple engineering disciplines, strengthening its global academic profile. The broader Engineering and Technology category ranked 131 globally, while Electrical and Electronic Engineering rose to 92nd, showcasing continued advancement in high-demand technical fields.
One of the most notable improvements was recorded in Chemical Engineering, which entered the global Top 100 at 94th place, a significant leap from its previous ranking in the 151–200 range. In total, Khalifa University secured rankings across 15 subjects in the QS Rankings by Subject 2026, with three subjects placed in the global Top 100 and three more within the Top 150, reflecting its growing reputation as a multidisciplinary research institution with global relevance.
Additional improvements were observed in Mathematics (130th), Mechanical Engineering (133rd), and Computer Science and Information Systems (137th), further strengthening the university’s academic standing.
