Yas Waterworld: Major upgrade introduces new rides, immersive zones, and enhanced guest experiences on Yas Island
Abu Dhabi’s iconic Yas Waterworld has entered an exciting new chapter with the official opening of its latest expansion, marking a major milestone in the evolution of one of the region’s most popular leisure destinations.
Developed by Miral, the expansion significantly enhances the park’s offerings, introducing a fresh wave of attractions designed to deliver next-level aquatic entertainment for visitors of all ages. The development builds on the park’s original storytelling theme, The Legend of the Lost Pearl, by introducing a new immersive zone, the “Lost City,” further enriching the overall guest experience.
The newly expanded area adds a substantial number of rides, slides, and interactive experiences, bringing the park’s total attractions to more than 60. This expansion reinforces Yas Waterworld’s position as one of the region’s leading waterparks and a key attraction within Abu Dhabi’s growing tourism ecosystem.
Spanning over 13,000 square metres, the expansion introduces more than 20 new rides and slides, ranging from family-friendly attractions to high-thrill adventures. Among the highlights are innovative water rides and unique experiences that push the boundaries of entertainment, ensuring both adrenaline seekers and families can enjoy a diverse range of activities.
Senior leadership at Miral described the expansion as a bold step forward in delivering world-class experiences on Yas Island. They emphasised that the new attractions not only elevate water-based entertainment in the region but also reflect a long-term commitment to innovation and guest satisfaction.
The development aligns closely with Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy to position Yas Island as a global tourism and entertainment destination. With a portfolio that already includes attractions such as Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and SeaWorld, the expansion of Yas Waterworld further strengthens the island’s appeal to regional and international visitors alike.
In addition to the initial expansion phase launched earlier, further enhancements have continued into 2026, with new additions including slides, jumping platforms, and relaxation areas. These upgrades are designed to offer a more diverse and immersive experience, catering to evolving visitor expectations and increasing demand for high-quality leisure attractions.
One of the standout features of the latest developments is the introduction of record-breaking attractions, including the UAE’s tallest waterslide, offering a high-adrenaline experience that adds to the park’s growing reputation for innovation and excitement.
The expansion also increases visitor capacity, allowing the park to accommodate more guests while maintaining high service standards. This is particularly important as Yas Island continues to attract millions of visitors each year, driven by its diverse mix of entertainment, hospitality, and cultural experiences.
Beyond rides and attractions, the expansion includes enhanced dining options and upgraded facilities, ensuring a more comprehensive and comfortable experience for guests. The integration of new amenities reflects a holistic approach to destination development, where entertainment, hospitality, and convenience come together seamlessly.
Industry experts note that such large-scale developments play a critical role in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a competitive global tourism hub. By continuously investing in world-class attractions, the emirate attracts new visitors, extends average stay durations, and boosts overall economic activity.
The opening of the Yas Waterworld expansion also underscores the growing importance of experience-driven tourism, where visitors seek immersive, memorable, and high-quality entertainment. As global travel trends continue to evolve, destinations that can deliver unique and engaging experiences are increasingly gaining a competitive edge.
Looking ahead, Yas Island is expected to continue its expansion trajectory, with ongoing investments to enhance its attractions and further strengthen its reputation as a leading destination for leisure and entertainment.
With the latest expansion now open to guests, Yas Waterworld is set to offer an even more dynamic and engaging experience, further solidifying its status as a must-visit destination in the UAE’s thriving tourism landscape.
