“Art has the power to uplift patients, support medical teams and transform healthcare environments into spaces of comfort and creativity.”
New citywide programme integrates art and creativity into healthcare environments to enhance patient well-being
Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have launched the ‘Art for Good’ initiative, a citywide programme aimed at integrating art and creativity into hospital environments across Dubai.
The initiative will introduce artist-led programmes and creative experiences inside healthcare facilities, designed to support emotional well-being and reduce stress for patients, their families and healthcare professionals. By embedding cultural expression into everyday care settings, the programme seeks to create a more human-centred healing environment within hospitals.
The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and Dr Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, on the sidelines of Arab Health at Expo City Dubai. The partnership will explore new ways of integrating art into healthcare services and public engagement initiatives.
Through the programme, artists, creatives and community participants will collaborate with healthcare providers to design activities that reflect local heritage and national identity, while supporting recovery and emotional resilience. The first phase of the initiative will involve 10 private hospitals across Dubai, working together to evaluate and expand the programme’s impact.
The initiative also aligns with Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy, which aims to enhance social wellbeing and position the emirate as a leading global destination to live, work and visit. By combining culture with healthcare, the programme seeks to strengthen community engagement while highlighting the transformative role of art in improving daily life.
Officials noted that the initiative represents a unique model developed in Dubai, showcasing how creative expression can support patient recovery, inspire optimism and foster meaningful connections within healthcare settings.
