New retail outlet supports community services while strengthening sustainable endowment projects in Dubai
Dubai, UAE: LuLu Group has opened a new LuLu Xpress store at Khawaneej Gate in Al Khawaneej-2, developed as part of the Al Khawaneej Endowment Mall project in partnership with the Dubai Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation. The initiative aims to provide convenient retail services to residents while generating sustainable revenue that supports community and charitable activities across the emirate.
The store was inaugurated by Essa Abdullah Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, in the presence of Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf, and Yusuffali M.A., Chairman of LuLu Group, along with other officials and guests. The launch reflects a growing collaboration between the public and private sectors to develop projects that benefit both local communities and endowment initiatives.
The retail outlet forms part of the broader Al Khawaneej Endowment Mall project, which has been designed to support residents while creating long-term income streams from endowment assets. Proceeds from these projects contribute to mosque maintenance and various community programmes across Dubai, reinforcing the social role of Awqaf initiatives in the emirate.
Spanning approximately 19,800 square feet, the new LuLu Xpress store offers a wide selection of everyday products, including groceries, fresh produce, meat and seafood, bakery items, health and beauty products, and mobile accessories. The store also features self-checkout counters and ample parking to provide a convenient, modern shopping experience for customers in the area.
Officials noted that the project reflects Dubai Awqaf’s strategy to develop high-quality endowment projects that generate sustainable financial returns while supporting community development initiatives. The partnership with LuLu Group also highlights the growing role of private sector collaborations in expanding socially driven commercial developments.
LuLu Group Chairman Yusuffali M.A. said the company looks forward to further cooperation with Awqaf on future projects, noting that several additional developments are planned across the region as part of the partnership.
