“Reliable energy and water systems are the foundation of sustainable growth and economic stability.”

Department of Energy Abu Dhabi review highlights operational excellence and system resilience across energy and water facilities

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Department of Energy (DoE) Abu Dhabi has reaffirmed the readiness and efficiency of the emirate’s energy and water ecosystem, following a high-level field visit to key operational sites and infrastructure projects across the capital.

The visit was led by H.E. Dr Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Department of Energy and Board Member of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), who reviewed critical facilities, control rooms and operational systems to assess performance and ensure the reliability of supply.

During the tour, the Chairman was accompanied by senior officials and representatives from strategic partners, including TAQA leadership, reflecting the importance of coordination across the energy and water value chain. The visit focused on evaluating production management systems, operational workflows and advanced technologies used to maintain efficiency and service continuity.

Officials received detailed briefings from frontline teams on operational procedures, safety standards, and system performance, with particular emphasis on ensuring uninterrupted delivery of energy and water services at the highest quality standards.

The inspection also highlighted the role of innovative technologies and smart systems in enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening supply reliability. These technologies play a critical role in enabling the emirate to manage increasing demand while maintaining sustainability objectives.

Dr Al Jarwan commended the efforts of operational teams working across facilities, recognising their role in maintaining security of supply, operational excellence and system resilience. He emphasised that continuous monitoring and improvement of infrastructure are essential to ensuring long-term stability in the sector.

H.E. Dr Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan said: “The readiness and efficiency of Abu Dhabi’s energy and water ecosystem reflect the strength of our infrastructure, the commitment of our teams, and the reliability of systems that support sustainable growth.”

The visit forms part of the Department of Energy’s ongoing efforts to oversee operational performance, strengthen regulatory frameworks and adopt best practices in managing the energy and water sectors.

Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a leader in resource efficiency and sustainability, focusing on balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility. The emirate’s integrated approach ensures that energy and water systems align with long-term development goals while maintaining high operational performance.

The DoE plays a central role in shaping the emirate’s energy strategy, setting policies and regulations that support a secure, efficient and sustainable energy ecosystem. Established in 2018, the department is responsible for driving innovation, protecting consumer interests and ensuring the availability of reliable energy and water services.

As demand for resources continues to grow, maintaining a robust, resilient infrastructure has become increasingly critical. Abu Dhabi’s approach focuses on integrating advanced technologies, strategic partnerships and efficient management practices to ensure that supply remains stable and responsive to changing conditions.

“Continuous monitoring, innovation and collaboration are key to maintaining a resilient and future-ready energy and water ecosystem.”

Industry experts note that investments in infrastructure and technology are essential to supporting the region’s long-term sustainability goals. Abu Dhabi’s ability to maintain high standards of efficiency and reliability places it among the leading global centres for energy management and resource optimisation.

The visit also underscores the importance of public-private sector collaboration, with organisations such as TAQA playing a key role in supporting the emirate’s energy strategy. By working closely with partners, the Department of Energy aims to ensure that systems remain adaptable, efficient and capable of meeting future demand.

As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, Abu Dhabi’s focus on innovation, sustainability and operational excellence is expected to remain a cornerstone of its economic development strategy. The emirate’s integrated ecosystem provides a strong foundation for growth while ensuring essential services are delivered reliably and efficiently.

With ongoing investments and a clear strategic direction, Abu Dhabi is well-positioned to strengthen its leadership in energy and water management, reinforcing its role as a model for sustainable resource development in the region and beyond.
