The roaring engines are set to return to the majestic dunes of the UAE as the ADSC (Abu Dhabi Sports Council), in an exhilarating partnership with EMSO (Emirates Motorsports Organization), officially announces the highly anticipated fourth season of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge. Slated to run between October 2026 and April 2027, the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge promises to deliver another unforgettable chapter in regional motorsport, meticulously organized by the ADSC and fully sanctioned by EMSO.
Fueling the Next Generation of Desert Racers
For this fourth edition, the organizing committees have placed a massive strategic emphasis on grassroots development and nurturing emerging talent. The championship offers a rare, high-stakes environment where newcomers and amateur enthusiasts can test their mettle by competing directly alongside seasoned, professional drivers and riders from across the Middle East.
The grueling, action-packed calendar spans four distinct rounds across some of the most challenging and visually stunning off-road terrains in the emirate. The season officially flags off on October 17, 2026, at Tilal Sweihan. The caravan then shifts to the towering dunes of the Al Dhafra Region for the second round in Liwa on December 12–13, 2026. Liwa will once again test the competitors during the third round on January 23, 2027. Finally, the ultimate champions will be crowned at the season finale on April 10, 2027, deep in the Al Ain desert.
Each individual round forces competitors to navigate a grueling total distance of over 100 kilometers, broken down into intense 25-kilometer laps. With substantial cash prizes on the line, the fastest drivers are expected to conquer these sandy circuits in approximately two hours. Following stringent local safety and technical regulations set by EMSO, the grid will be fiercely contested across multiple categories, including specialized rally cars, nimble buggies, high-speed motorcycles, and heavy-duty quads.
Leadership Perspectives on Regional Motorsport
The strategic vision behind this expanding series is clear: to solidify Abu Dhabi’s global standing as a premier hub for world-class racing while providing a safe, regulated environment for domestic talent to shine.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, highlighted the broader mission behind the championship, stating:
“The Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge is one of the key initiatives that embodies Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s vision to support motorsport and broaden participation in the sport. It also reinforces the emirate’s position as a leading destination for hosting and organising world-class sporting events, supported by its outstanding organisational expertise, which helps attract elite competitors and motorsport enthusiasts from the UAE and around the world.”
Echoing this sentiment, Maher Al Badri, Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Motorsports Organization, expressed immense pride in the collaborative success of the championship. He noted that the series has fundamentally transformed the UAE’s desert rally calendar by actively identifying and developing local technical capabilities.
Al Badri remarked:
“Abu Dhabi possesses exceptional attributes that make it one of the world’s leading destinations for rally racing, thanks to its diverse desert terrain and extensive experience in organising major international championships. We believe that staging a specialised local series such as the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge provides an essential platform to support competitors and prepare them to compete at the highest levels, strengthening their presence and representation at regional and international events.”
Building on a Legacy of High-Speed Success
The launch of this spectacular fourth season builds directly upon the phenomenal momentum generated in previous years. The third season was a resounding triumph, attracting more than 380 formidable entries across its four rounds. With competitors representing over 20 different nationalities, the championship proved its universal appeal and high competitive standard.
By actively engaging both professional veterans and passionate amateurs, the series continues to expand community involvement in off-road racing. As the countdown to October begins, all eyes are on the dunes, where the next generation of desert racing champions will inevitably be forged.
