A phenomenal transformation is currently underway in the UAE property market, as Azizi Developments and DIB (Dubai Islamic Bank) officially join forces to finance a new era of greener real estate. Unlocking Sustainable Finance

The foundation of this groundbreaking alliance was established during DIB’s recently launched ‘Unlocking Sustainable Finance’ series. Designed as a highly focused, sector-specific platform, the initiative aims to assist priority industries in navigating the complex transition toward a climate-resilient economy. Recognizing the profound environmental impact of the built environment, DIB chose the real estate sector for its inaugural forum. The event successfully convened over 80 senior stakeholders, including prominent policymakers, developers, contractors, and sustainability specialists, to explore how green capital can effectively unlock lower-carbon buildings and circular supply chains.

At the center of this summit was the formalization of a strategic agreement between DIB and Azizi Developments. Moving beyond theoretical discussions, the two corporate giants established an official LEED-precertified project financing facility. This financial framework will directly support the construction of Azizi properties that are strictly aligned with internationally recognized green building standards, proving that higher-performing, eco-friendly real estate assets are both commercially viable and environmentally imperative.

A Unified Vision for the UAE

This corporate collaboration perfectly mirrors the UAE’s broader national agenda to achieve complete climate neutrality by 2050. By integrating specialized financing solutions into the early stages of development, Azizi and DIB are actively demonstrating that sustainability is no longer a niche concept, but a foundational requirement for modern urban development.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Adnan Chilwan, Group Chief Executive Officer of DIB, emphasized the absolute necessity of this industry evolution. According to the official Gulf Articles report, Dr. Chilwan stated:

“Real estate remains one of the most influential sectors in shaping economic growth and urban development. As the shift toward a lower-carbon economy accelerates, sustainable finance must evolve from being a niche offering into a strategic discipline that helps businesses execute credible transition plans and deliver measurable impact.”

This progressive sentiment was strongly echoed by the leadership at Azizi Developments, who view eco-conscious construction as a primary pillar of their corporate strategy. Highlighting the fundamental importance of long-term value creation, Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, told ZAWYA:

“At Azizi Developments, we view sustainability as a key driver of long-term value and responsible growth. Our partnership with Dubai Islamic Bank marks an important step in advancing innovative financing solutions that support the UAE’s sustainability agenda and contribute to a more resilient and future-ready real estate sector.”

Translating Commitments into Measurable Impact

The implications of this DIB and Azizi partnership extend far beyond a single residential project. Farhad Azizi, Group CEO of Azizi Developments, further explained the operational benefits of the agreement, stating: “As the transition to a greener real estate value chain continues to shape the sector, partnerships such as this play an important role in advancing innovation, enabling responsible growth, and creating lasting value for communities and stakeholders alike.”

For DIB, this collaboration with Azizi is a critical component of a massive ESG mandate. The bank has ambitiously committed to increasing its sustainable assets to represent 15% of its total financing portfolio by 2030. By the end of 2025, DIB had successfully deployed nearly AED 20 billion in sustainable financing and facilitated close to AED 30 billion in sustainable debt capital market transactions. According to the bank’s official reports, these immense investments have already helped avoid more than 155,000 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions and delivered nearly 96,000 MWh in crucial energy savings.

As investors and residents increasingly demand eco-friendly living spaces, this phenomenal alliance between Azizi and DIB sets a new, elevated standard for the entire region. By aggressively funding greener real estate, they are not merely constructing buildings; they are financing the sustainable future of the UAE.
