Sharjah “SPARK’s AI Hub is not just about innovation—it is about turning artificial intelligence into real-world impact across industries and economies.”
Sharjah Spark: New AI Hub at SPARK aims to bridge innovation and real-world implementation with integrated technology services
The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) has unveiled a new AI Hub, positioning itself as a one-stop platform for artificial intelligence and digital technology services to accelerate innovation and practical deployment across multiple sectors.
The initiative marks a significant step in Sharjah’s broader ambition to strengthen its role as a regional and global hub for advanced technologies, aligning closely with national strategies such as the UAE’s AI Strategy 2031. The newly launched hub is designed to bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, enabling organisations to move beyond experimentation and adopt AI-driven solutions at scale.
At the core of the AI Hub is a comprehensive suite of integrated services, including AI consulting, applied research and development, data analytics, prototyping, and advanced computing infrastructure. These capabilities are intended to support businesses, government entities, and research institutions in developing and deploying real-world AI use cases across industries such as smart cities, healthcare, manufacturing, and sustainability.
The hub will operate through a consortium of regional and international partners, offering access to high-performance computing resources, specialised expertise, and cutting-edge technologies. This collaborative model is expected to accelerate innovation cycles and provide organisations with the tools needed to scale AI solutions efficiently.
Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Chief Executive Officer of SPARK, described the launch as a major milestone in the park’s growth journey, emphasising that the initiative reflects Sharjah’s commitment to becoming a destination for innovation and advanced technologies. He noted that the AI Hub is designed to empower talent, support the adoption of applied AI, and help businesses transform ideas into impactful, real-world solutions that contribute to sustainable economic growth.
A key focus of the hub is capacity building and talent development, with a range of training programmes, certifications, and hands-on workshops to equip professionals, researchers, and government stakeholders with the skills needed to adopt and scale AI technologies. This approach is expected to address the growing demand for AI expertise while fostering a new generation of technology leaders in the region.
In addition to enterprise and government support, the AI Hub will also play a crucial role in nurturing startups and entrepreneurs. By providing access to infrastructure, mentorship, and commercialisation opportunities, the initiative aims to create a supportive ecosystem that enables innovators to develop and scale their solutions within the UAE and beyond.
The announcement was made during one of SPARK’s Business Breakfast sessions, a flagship platform that brings together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore emerging technologies and share insights on the future of digital transformation. The session focused on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence across industries, reinforcing the UAE’s vision of building a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy.
Globally, artificial intelligence is expected to deliver significant economic value, with estimates suggesting it could add up to $15 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Against this backdrop, initiatives such as SPARK’s AI Hub are positioned to play a critical role in enabling regional economies to capture a share of this growth by fostering innovation, enhancing productivity, and supporting sustainable development.
The launch also reflects SPARK’s ongoing commitment to developing a comprehensive innovation ecosystem that attracts global investors, supports research and development, and drives the commercialisation of advanced technologies. By fostering public-private collaboration and enabling secure, sovereign AI deployment, the hub is expected to generate tangible economic value while reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a business-friendly, forward-looking innovation destination.
As the UAE continues to invest heavily in digital transformation and emerging technologies, the establishment of the AI Hub further strengthens Sharjah’s role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence in the region. The initiative is set to act as a catalyst for innovation, enabling organisations to harness the full potential of AI while contributing to long-term economic growth and technological advancement.
