“The UAE’s integrated logistics system ensures uninterrupted food supply and maintains the highest standards of food safety ahead of Eid Al Fitr.”

MOCCAE food supply readiness ensures stable UAE food security and smooth supply chains ahead of Eid Al Fitr

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has confirmed its full readiness to ensure an uninterrupted food supply across the UAE in preparation for Eid Al Fitr, as demand for food, agricultural and livestock products increases across local markets.

The Ministry has implemented a comprehensive, proactive operational plan to ensure the smooth flow of food consignments through all land, sea, and air entry points. The plan is supported by advanced logistics systems, specialised personnel and close coordination with relevant authorities across the country.

MOCCAE stated that inspection and clearance procedures for food and agricultural shipments are being carried out efficiently to maintain a continuous supply of essential goods. The Ministry has deployed additional technical resources and teams to accelerate processing times while maintaining strict food safety standards.

Field inspection visits have been conducted at agricultural and veterinary quarantine centres across UAE entry points to assess workflows and ensure the effectiveness of inspection procedures. These inspections also reviewed customs clearance processes to ensure that food products reach local markets without delays.

Officials emphasised that the UAE’s integrated logistics network is operating at maximum capacity, with border entry points playing a critical role as the first line of defence in safeguarding food safety and ensuring supply continuity. The system is designed to efficiently manage the entire food value chain, from import to distribution.

Between 1 January and 18 March 2026, the UAE processed 1,454 livestock consignments, representing more than 441,000 animals, including sheep, goats, cattle and camels. In addition, thousands of tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables are being imported daily, ensuring that market demand is fully met.

The Ministry confirmed that import operations for various food commodities are progressing smoothly in preparation for Eid Al Fitr. Inspection teams are working around the clock to ensure rapid clearance of shipments and maintain a consistent supply of fresh, essential products across the country.

Despite the increase in import volumes, MOCCAE stressed that UAE food safety standards remain uncompromised. Strict inspection protocols are applied to all incoming consignments, including verification of documentation, origin tracking, laboratory testing and health certification checks. Any non-compliant shipments are immediately rejected to protect public health.

All entry points across the UAE operate under a centralised and integrated operational system, supported by real-time coordination with strategic partners and local authorities. This system ensures that supply chains remain stable and adaptable to changes in demand.

The Ministry also highlighted its strategy to diversify import sources globally, ensuring a wide range of food products is available in the market. This approach strengthens supply chain resilience and enhances the UAE’s position in international trade.

To further improve efficiency, MOCCAE has introduced fast-track clearance channels and increased staffing levels, including veterinarians, agricultural engineers and laboratory specialists. These measures are designed to accelerate processing times and ensure that food products maintain high quality and freshness from entry points to retail markets.

The Ministry confirmed that these combined efforts reflect the UAE’s strong commitment to food security, market stability and consumer protection, particularly during peak demand periods such as Eid Al Fitr.
