Abu Dhabi, UAE: Yas Waterworld, Yas Island, is set to unveil a major expansion on April 4, 2026, introducing 11 https://www.yaswaterworld.com/new slides and attractions that will significantly enhance the waterpark’s offering and reinforce its position as one of the region’s leading entertainment destinations.

The expansion, developed by Miral, marks the next phase of the park’s evolving “Lost City” theme, building on the narrative of The Legend of the Lost Pearl, which is deeply rooted in Emirati heritage.

With the addition of the new attractions, Yas Waterworld will now offer more than 70 rides, slides and experiences, providing visitors with a broader mix of adrenaline-filled adventures and family-friendly activities.

Among the highlights of the expansion is Matamir’s Drop, set to become the tallest waterslide in the UAE, featuring a dramatic plunge from over 40 metres and a slide run extending approximately 233 metres. The attraction is designed to deliver a high-intensity experience for thrill seekers looking for a freefall sensation combined with speed and excitement.

The expansion also introduces a variety of other rides designed to cater to different thrill levels. Sahel Matamir, a freefall tube racer, offers bursts of speed and moments of near weightlessness, while Matamir Loop delivers rapid descents through a high-speed body slide experience.

For guests seeking visually immersive rides, Matamir Twist combines fast-paced movement with lighting effects, creating a dynamic environment that enhances the ride experience. Meanwhile, Matamir Splash offers a competitive element, allowing visitors to race side-by-side in a duelling mat slide format.

Beyond high-adrenaline attractions, the expansion also introduces more relaxed and family-oriented experiences. A new leisure pool, Sarab, provides a space for visitors to unwind, while Al Afda, a jumping platform attraction, adds a playful and interactive element for adventurous guests.

Jonathan Brown, Chief Portfolio Officer at Miral, said the expansion represents a key milestone in enhancing Yas Island’s entertainment offering. He noted that the addition of new attractions is aimed at delivering fresh thrills and immersive experiences for visitors of all ages, while supporting Abu Dhabi’s broader ambition to position itself as a global tourism hub.

The development reflects a continued investment in Yas Island’s world-class attractions, which include major destinations such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Together, these attractions contribute to Yas Island’s reputation as a leading leisure and tourism destination in the region.

Yas Waterworld itself has been recognised globally for its unique blend of cultural storytelling and entertainment, offering attractions inspired by the UAE’s pearl diving heritage. The park spans more than 15 hectares and has received multiple international awards, further reinforcing its status within the global theme park industry.

The new expansion aligns with broader trends in the leisure and entertainment sector, where destinations are increasingly focusing on immersive storytelling, innovative ride design and diverse visitor experiences to attract a wider audience.

As Abu Dhabi continues to expand its tourism and entertainment sector, developments such as the Yas Waterworld expansion play a key role in driving visitor growth and enhancing the emirate’s global appeal.

With the launch of these 11 new attractions, Yas Waterworld is set to enter a new phase of growth, offering visitors a richer and more dynamic waterpark experience while strengthening its position as a must-visit destination on Yas Island.
