“Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards is fundamental to maintaining Dubai’s global leadership in logistics and trade.” – Dubai PCFC

Dubai PCFC – Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation reinforces EHS requirements to ensure operational safety and sustainability

The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (Dubai PCFC) has called on companies operating across Dubai’s ports and free zones to strictly comply with environment, health and safety (EHS) requirements, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and sustainability across the emirate’s logistics and industrial ecosystem.

The directive highlights the importance of adhering to regulatory frameworks established by the corporation’s Environment, Health and Safety Department (Trakhees), which oversees compliance across a wide range of operational activities within free zones and port facilities.

Officials emphasised that compliance with EHS regulations is essential to ensuring the safety of workers, protecting the environment, and maintaining business continuity, particularly in sectors involving industrial processes, logistics, and storage.

The reminder is part of Dubai PCFC’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness among businesses and ensure that all entities meet the required standards for operational safety and environmental responsibility. These measures are designed to reduce risks, prevent incidents and support long-term sustainability objectives.

According to the corporation, companies must ensure that all operational activities align with established safety protocols, including proper handling of materials, adherence to safety procedures and compliance with environmental guidelines. Failure to meet these requirements may result in regulatory action, including penalties or operational restrictions.

“Compliance with environment, health and safety requirements is essential to maintaining safe operations, protecting the environment and supporting sustainable growth across Dubai’s free zones.”

The Dubai PCFC highlighted that EHS compliance is not only a regulatory obligation but also a key factor in enhancing operational efficiency and business resilience. Companies that maintain high safety standards are better positioned to manage risks and ensure uninterrupted operations.

Dubai’s free zones and ports play a critical role in supporting regional and global trade, handling significant volumes of cargo and industrial activity. Ensuring that these operations are conducted safely and responsibly is essential to maintaining the emirate’s reputation as a leading global logistics hub.

The corporation also noted that its regulatory framework is aligned with international best practices, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to maintaining world-class standards in safety and environmental management.

In addition to enforcing compliance, Dubai PCFC continues to provide guidance and support to businesses through awareness campaigns, training programmes and regulatory updates. These initiatives aim to help companies understand their obligations and implement effective safety measures.

“Strong adherence to safety and environmental standards is key to sustaining efficient and resilient industrial operations.”

Industry experts note that EHS compliance is becoming increasingly important as global standards evolve and regulatory expectations continue to rise. Companies operating in logistics, manufacturing and industrial sectors are under growing pressure to adopt sustainable practices and robust safety frameworks.

Dubai’s proactive approach to EHS regulation reflects its broader vision of building a sustainable and future-ready economy, where growth is balanced with environmental responsibility and worker safety.

The corporation also stressed the importance of regular inspections and monitoring to ensure that businesses remain compliant with evolving regulations. By maintaining a consistent oversight mechanism, PCFC aims to identify potential risks early and implement corrective measures where necessary.

Furthermore, the integration of advanced technologies and digital systems is increasingly enhancing compliance and operational efficiency. These tools enable better tracking of safety performance, improved reporting and faster response to potential issues.

Dubai’s logistics and free zone ecosystem continues to attract global businesses due to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure and efficient regulatory environment. Maintaining high standards of safety and compliance is essential to sustaining this competitive advantage.

As the emirate continues to expand its industrial and logistics capabilities, the role of EHS compliance will remain central to ensuring sustainable, secure growth.

With its continued focus on regulatory excellence and industry collaboration, Dubai PCFC aims to strengthen its position as a global leader in safe, efficient and sustainable trade operations.
