In an exciting development for international travellers, flydubai has announced the highly anticipated resumption of its direct flight operations connecting Dubai and Budapest. Starting from July 31, 2026, the Dubai-based carrier will restore a vital non-stop aviation link between Dubai International (DXB) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), unlocking incredible opportunities for tourism and trade between the UAE and Hungary.

Meeting Peak Summer Travel Demand
Initially operating three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, this reinstated route serves the massive peak summer demand for leisure, corporate, and VFR (Visiting Friends & Relatives) segments. As autumn approaches, the airline plans to ramp up this frequency, graduating to a daily service beginning October 25, 2026, effectively aligning with the busy winter travel schedules.
Flights are perfectly timed to maximize convenience, departing Dubai at 4:45 pm local time and touching down in the stunning Hungarian capital at 9:40 pm. Return journeys leave Budapest at 10:40 pm, bringing passengers back to the UAE by 7:05 am the following day. For travellers eager to explore the city’s Gothic architecture and the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths, return fares start at Dhs2,987 in economy class and Dhs15,585 in business class.
A Strategic European Vision
The strategic resumption underscores flydubai‘s intense focus on the Central and Eastern European markets, a region where the carrier has witnessed steady commercial growth since first landing in the Hungarian capital in 2021.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, emphasized the enduring importance of this bilateral relationship, stating:
“The resumption of our Budapest service reaffirms our long-term investment in Hungary and reflects the strong economic and cultural ties between our two nations. Budapest remains one of our most strategic European markets. Reconnecting the Hungarian capital to Dubai enables us to offer greater choice for regional travellers while further solidifying Dubai’s position as a global hub for business, trade and tourism.”
Seamless Connections Through Emirates Codeshare
A major operational perk for passengers utilizing the Dubai to Budapest route is the robust codeshare partnership with Emirates. This integration guarantees an entirely seamless travel experience, allowing passengers to utilize a single ticket with through-checked baggage privileges when connecting to wider global destinations.

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, highlighted the broader network benefits that this partnership brings to the region:
“We are pleased to welcome trade partners and passengers back on board our Budapest route. As we approach the busy autumn-winter travel season, this service creates valuable new commercial and tourism opportunities across both markets. Operating as part of our strategic codeshare with Emirates, travel agents and customers can leverage seamless connections, integrated itineraries and joint network reach across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Southeast Asia.”
A Rapidly Expanding Global Footprint
The reinstatement of Budapest flights represents just one facet of flydubai’s aggressive 2026 network expansion. Reaching an impressive milestone of over 120 destinations globally, the carrier recently celebrated the launch of new services to Aleppo in Syria, Bangkok in Thailand, and Benghazi in Libya. Moving into the fall, the airline is scheduled to add Pokhara in Nepal to its ever-growing roster starting September 23. By continually expanding its footprint and restoring popular routes, flydubai firmly cements its reputation as a dominant, highly agile force in the international aviation sector.
