The global communications sector is currently experiencing a groundbreaking transformation, and Sharjah is at the absolute forefront of this institutional shift. Through the strategic vision of the SGMB (Sharjah Government Media Bureau), the highly anticipated 13th edition of the SGCA (Sharjah Government Communication Award) has officially expanded its scope for 2026 to reflect the rapid evolution of modern media.

Sharjah Expands the 13th Edition of the SGCA to Redefine Global Communications

This prestigious award views institutional communication not merely as a traditional broadcast mechanism, but as an indispensable partner in executive decision-making and a potent tool for creating sustainable socio-economic impact. Registration is currently open, with the SGMB accepting global applications until 31st August 2026 via its official portal (https://gca.sgmb.ae). Through this platform, participants can thoroughly review the comprehensive SGCA eligibility criteria, download the official participation guide, and submit their campaigns seamlessly.

Honoring Innovation in Integrated Communication Systems

Reflecting the immense complexities of the digital age, the SGCA has introduced highly specialized evaluation categories. The ‘Innovation in Integrated Communication System’ category specifically targets government entities, international organisations, and semi-government institutions. It rigorously recognises entities that have successfully developed cohesive communication systems to support strategic objectives, strengthen public engagement, and dramatically enhance overall institutional performance.

By successfully weaving governance, cutting-edge innovation, and modern technologies into their operational DNA, these forward-thinking organisations elevate the effectiveness of corporate communication. Ultimately, this helps foster public trust, significantly improves the audience experience, and leverages data to drive sophisticated executive decision-making.

Elevating Quality of Life Through Strategic Messaging

Another fundamental pillar of the 2026 SGCA is the ‘Outstanding Communication Award for a Higher Quality of Life’. Designed specifically for Sharjah government entities, this category honours those who effectively utilize government communication to propel critical initiatives, progressive policies, and public services that directly improve daily living standards.

The SGMB places a strong emphasis on projects that address core developmental pillars: environmental sustainability, public health, educational advancement, food security, and vital community services. This category celebrates targeted campaigns that build unbreakable trust between the government and the public while delivering tangible, positive societal impact.

Empowering Communities and Fostering Solidarity

To highlight the deeply humanitarian aspect of global media, the SGCA features the ‘Best Innovative Communication Initiative for Community Empowerment’. Open to global government bodies, international organisations, and the private sector, this award celebrates leaders who design bold communication strategies that empower vulnerable communities.

The focus is firmly rooted in promoting social responsibility, cooperation, and international solidarity. It actively champions initiatives that address pressing social and humanitarian issues, inspire volunteerism, and formulate innovative solutions that leave a lasting, sustainable legacy across diverse societal segments.

A Vast Platform for Global Excellence

The 13th edition represents the most comprehensive SGCA to date, comprising a remarkable 23 highly competitive categories spread across five main sectors. These encompass awards for international organisations, private sector enterprises, individual visionaries, and a unique Smart Communication creative competition.

Highlighting the continuous evolution of the award, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the SGMB, underscored its vital mission in a recent press briefing:

“The award continues to contribute to the advancement of communication practices by recognising initiatives that help build trust, support development goals, and strengthen engagement with communities.”

Furthermore, Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Head of the SGCA Jury Committee, emphasized the critical intersection of technology and human benefit in this year’s judging criteria, particularly regarding Artificial Intelligence:

“Technology alone will not define the future of communication, but how organisations use it to benefit people and create positive impact. AI has become a key part of content creation and audience engagement.”

In a pioneering move for 2026, the SGCA has introduced a new evaluation criterion allowing entries to earn up to 10 additional points for the effective and responsible use of AI, cementing the award’s forward-looking ethos.

The global prestige of the SGCA is absolutely undeniable. The previous edition saw staggering international participation, attracting over 2,600 submissions from across the globe. From those, more than 600 entries representing 37 countries advanced to the preliminary evaluation stage, with 170 elite campaigns reaching the final assessment. As the SGMB prepares to close submissions this August, the 2026 SGCA in Sharjah stands ready to once again unite the world’s most brilliant communicators, actively shaping the future of global institutional dialogue.
