Space42 UAE SpaceTech advanced manufacturing 2026
Space42’s MOU with Sindan on advanced additive manufacturing marks the next step in building a vertically integrated UAE space economy.

Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sindan, a specialist in advanced additive manufacturing. The partnership is designed to integrate Sindan’s precision manufacturing capabilities with Space42’s AI-powered satellite and earth observation technology, creating a collaboration that sits at the intersection of two of the most strategically important technology categories in the UAE’s economic diversification agenda: space technology and advanced manufacturing. For a country that has committed to building a space economy through a combination of satellite infrastructure, earth observation capabilities and the commercial applications of space data, the addition of sovereign advanced manufacturing capability to that stack is a meaningful step toward reducing dependence on international supply chains for the hardware components that space missions require.

Space42 was formed from the merger of Yahsat and Bayanat in 2023 and has developed into one of the most commercially ambitious SpaceTech companies in the region. Its combination of satellite communications, AI-powered earth observation analytics and geospatial intelligence services gives it a product range that spans both the traditional satellite services market and the fast-growing market for AI-driven insights derived from space data. The Sindan MOU adds a manufacturing dimension to this capability stack, creating the potential for Space42 to participate in the production of satellite components and space hardware rather than relying entirely on international manufacturers for the physical systems that underpin its services.

“Space42’s partnership with Sindan reflects the UAE’s ambition to build a vertically integrated space economy that spans satellite design, manufacturing, launch, operation and data analytics. Advanced additive manufacturing is a critical enabling technology for the next generation of satellite hardware, and UAE sovereignty in this capability reduces supply chain dependencies that have historically constrained the pace of space technology development.”

Why Advanced Manufacturing Matters for the Space Economy

Additive manufacturing, which uses 3D printing and related technologies to produce complex components layer by layer rather than through traditional subtractive machining processes, has become one of the most significant enabling technologies for the space sector. Satellite components that previously required complex machining, specialised tooling and long production lead times can now be produced through additive processes in days rather than weeks, with geometries that are impossible to achieve through conventional manufacturing. For small satellite manufacturers in particular, the ability to iterate hardware designs rapidly and produce components on demand rather than maintaining large inventories is a competitive and commercial advantage that is reshaping the economics of the space sector.

The Make it in the Emirates programme, which has been driving the development of UAE-based advanced manufacturing capability across sectors, provides the policy and incentive framework within which the Space42-Sindan partnership operates. UAE-based space hardware manufacturing aligns directly with the programme’s goals, and the combination of Space42’s market position, technical expertise and commercial relationships with Sindan’s manufacturing capability creates a partnership that is commercially viable rather than simply strategically aspirational.

What the UAE Space Economy Looks Like in 2026

The UAE space economy in 2026 is more developed than most external observers recognise. The UAE has successfully launched the Hope Probe to Mars, developed and launched its own earth observation satellites, built the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre into one of the region’s most capable space institutions, and created the commercial infrastructure through Space42 and its predecessors to monetise space data across a growing range of industries. The addition of advanced manufacturing capability through the Sindan partnership is the next logical step in building a space economy that is not just a user of space technology but a producer of it, from the data analytics layer through the satellite operations layer to the physical manufacturing of the hardware itself.

“Space42 represents the UAE’s ambition to be a full-spectrum space economy, participating in satellite communications, AI-powered earth observation, geospatial intelligence and now the advanced manufacturing of space hardware. The Sindan partnership is a meaningful step toward vertical integration that reduces supply chain dependencies and builds UAE sovereign capability in a strategically critical sector.”
