The delegation expressed profound pride in representing the UAE at Expo 2025. They described the pavilion as a vital platform for highlighting the country’s core values, its deeply rooted heritage, and its grand ambitions. The pavilion team successfully strengthened the nation’s position as a premier global hub for creativity, technological innovation, and shaping the future of human progress.
Earth to Ether: A Masterpiece of Emirati Architecture
The award-winning structure was meticulously designed under the visionary supervision of Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects. It brilliantly embodied the concept of progress as a continuous human journey, one that intrinsically links cultural heritage and traditional knowledge with scientific discovery.
Operating under the thematic banner Earth to Ether, the pavilion drew profound inspiration from the iconic date palm. It reimagined the traditional arish palm-frond house through a distinctly contemporary architectural vision. By doing so, it seamlessly combined the UAE‘s deep cultural roots with its towering ambitions for the future, drawing heavily on the sustainable principles of traditional Emirati architecture.
The structural ingenuity of the pavilion captivated millions of international attendees in Osaka, Japan. Utilizing agricultural waste and more than two million date palm fronds, the project highlighted an innovative reuse of natural materials. The structure featured 90 majestic palm rachis columns rising to 16 metres, creating a calm, shaded canopy that provided a sensory sanctuary for visitors.
Reflecting on the massive success of the project, His Excellency Shihab Alfaheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, stated in an official release:
“This recognition reflects the strength of the Pavilion’s design approach and the collaboration that shaped it. The Pavilion brought together partners across disciplines and geographies to create a space where architecture, material and guest experience could come together with purpose… We are proud to have taken five million visitors on a splendid journey to the UAE’s past and future through this pavilion.”

A Gathering of Leadership and Visionaries
The reception was attended by a distinguished assembly of the nation’s leadership, underscoring the importance placed on the pavilion team‘s achievements. Among the attendees were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; and Lt.
