In the face of a dangerous escalation of regional hostilities, the UAE has reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with both Qatar and Jordan following a series of alarming military incidents. Following recent acts of aggression that threatened the sovereignty and economic security of these nations, high-level diplomatic channels between the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan were immediately activated to coordinate a robust, unified response.

UAE Stands Firmly with Qatar and Jordan Amid Unprecedented Regional Hostilities.

At the center of this diplomatic mobilization was H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE‘s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Sheikh Abdullah held urgent, separate telephone conversations with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Assessing the Threat to Regional Stability

The high-level discussions primarily focused on reviewing overall regional developments in the aftermath of two severe security breaches. The first involved direct Iranian aggression targeting the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with a barrage of missiles. This brazen act not only violated Jordanian sovereign airspace but also threatened the delicate geopolitical balance of the Levant, drawing widespread international condemnation and necessitating immediate backing from Gulf allies.

The second major incident addressed during the calls was the alarming Iranian attack on the Qatari state-owned LNG tanker, Al Rekayyat, while it was transiting near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. The unprovoked assault on the commercial vessel sent immediate shockwaves through global energy markets, raising profound concerns regarding the safety of international maritime trade routes.

During his conversations with his counterparts, Sheikh Abdullah categorically affirmed the UAE‘s full solidarity with the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He stressed the UAE‘s absolute commitment to supporting all necessary efforts and measures that enhance the security and stability of the two brotherly countries, emphasizing that safeguarding the safety of their peoples remains a paramount collective priority.

Defending the Freedom of Navigation

A significant portion of the diplomatic dialogue underscored the critical importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in regional and international waters. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most essential maritime chokepoints, and any disruption there poses a direct threat to global economic stability.

Highlighting the severity of the maritime attack on the Qatari tanker, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a decisive statement outlining the nation’s stance:

“This attack represents a serious threat to the safety and security of international navigation, and is a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of one of the world’s most vital waterways.”

The diplomatic backlash from Doha was equally resolute. Responding to the strike on the Al Rekayyat, Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al Ansari vehemently condemned the action. He stated that the attack was a “serious and explicit violation” of international law, demanding that those responsible bear full legal accountability for threatening global maritime navigation.

Strengthening Fraternal Alliances

Beyond addressing the immediate crisis, the telephone calls served as a vital opportunity to reinforce long-standing Arab alliances. Sheikh Abdullah discussed a multitude of issues of mutual interest with both Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Ayman Safadi, focusing heavily on fraternal UAE–Qatar and UAE–Jordan relations.

The ministers explored dynamic new avenues of cooperation and concrete ways to further strengthen their strategic partnerships in support of shared economic and security interests. As the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East grows increasingly volatile, this synchronized diplomatic front proves that the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan remain firmly committed to preserving peace, deterring further aggression, and protecting the fundamental stability of the entire Arab region.
